Overview

The Photographers’ Gallery current Artists in Residence, Artist Duo FrenchMottershead explore the details of urban and social life through an interaction with their audiences which they describe as “microperformance”. The Site Gallery in Sheffield commissioned the artists in 2007 to do The Shops Project, extending their practice on an international scale, working with Chinese, Brazilian, Romanian, Turkish and Slovenian audiences, transforming ignored routines and repetitive daily actions into self-conscious performances.
