Overview

While shot in Moriyama's signature style, Nagisa marks a departure from his recent work and is much more personal. The book is a collaboration between Moriyama and his lover Yoko Nagisa, a lounge singer in the Tokyo nightlife district Shinjuku.

Moriyama’s camera intimately follows the striking Ms. Nagisa on and off stage, on the beach and through the streets of Shinjuku.

Nagisa is a photographic love letter in the tradition of Japanese photo books of a lover like those of Nobuyoshi Araki and Seiichi Furuya.
